I wonder how many cars they damaged doing it? Notice the heavy rubber marking on the pavement?

Interesting that they use the hand brake.

Back in my (very much) younger days I cannot recall any of us who could not do handbrake turns. It was an essential element of the armory of skills used when competing in car driving competitions, especialy when rounding pylons or, as in the video, parallel parking. I will admit, however, that the gap between the cars (simulated by strategically placed cones) was usually somewhat bigger than 20 cms.

Friend of mine tried it in a Land Rover. . . it fell over! Transmission brakes & handbrake turns are not a good combination!

That's how you do a "Bat Turn". In the old '60's sitcom the Batmobile would do Bat Turns. I grew up in the 60's and when I learned to drive in '70, my buddies and I practiced these. I've got an '89 Dodge Omni right now and I've done a couple of these already. A neighbor kid was messing around and I told him his Eclipse couldn't keep up with me. He did okay until I slipped around a corner and he ended up plowing the shoulder of the road. I'm thinking of doing some AutoCross this summer.
