57 Cadillac With Air Bag Suspension

Restored 57 Cadillac with air bag suspension.jpg

A number of years ago I did this shot for an auto body shop owner in Minneapolis who had a growing collection of restored vehicles. The air bags were still good but the pump was shot and he hadn't yet been able to find a replacement. Apparently, the vehicle rose a foot into the air when the bags were fully inflated. Did our civilization peak somewhere between 1957 and 1968 or was it in 1912 just before the government got a printing press and an income tax?

That suggests that the level control valves were stuck.
Air suspension works great when it works; our civilization will peak when we figure out how to make it durable.

I'll settle for repairable and worth repairing. That pretty much excludes anything that says "energy saving".

I'm 63. My grandfather had one of these 'boats'. It was a great Land Yacht!
