But surely you appreciate that British 'bikes, vans, trucks and cars were specificallyOriginally Posted by Grouch
designed to leak as a customer/user aid. Once your vehicle, no matter what type,
stopped 'dripping' then, in the case of engine oil, one knew it was time to top up.
In the case of shocks it was time to replace them, brake systems it was time to top-up
etc, etc.. One never needed to refer to an owners manual. And was it not Lucas who
invented the 'Blue smoke diagnostic system' in order to overcome the problems caused
by wire and plastic manufacturers who could not produce impervious products. The
German, American and Japanese manufacturers are still - from my experience - using
invisible smoke, at least I have never seen any.
In the case of the British Intelligence leaks these were (and still are) quite deliberate -
as our intelligence was invariably wrong this was a carefully planned exercise in
spreading false information. Thus our enemies and the public in general were, and
still remain, confused.
We may be an eccentric nation but there is always method in our madness (or is it
madness in our methods?)
