Unthinking or hypocritical?

As much as I admire Lewis Hamilton for all he has achieved
I think he has lost the plot a little.

He now despairs of the world and wants us all to become vegan
to prevent 'climate change'. I find this rather odd coming from
someone who has made a living from flying all over the world
every other week to drive in a highly polluting fossil fueled sport.

Don't get me wrong, I love all motor sports and would hate to
lose any of them. I admire all the drivers, and riders who, week
after week - effectively - put their lives on the line. Their fitness
regimes and dedication to their teams and their sport are second
to none and their skills are incredible, I will happily raise a glass
(or three) in their direction at any time.

But;

Come on Lewis, what are you thinking?

I have a co-worker who was going on about stopping fracking to produce oil. I finally got tired of it and told him I agreed. Whole heartedly. I mentioned that I was willing to march with him to stop it and other oil production techniques. I also mentioned that we would have to start culling humans. There are too many poor people so let's start there. He started to get a funny look on his face. Then I mentioned we would still need some oil, if for no other reason than to make synthetic leathers and other textiles. Since we'd be culling people, why not start hunting whales again? They just fart in the oceans and the methane they produce is a green house gas. About that time, he started saying that maybe that was going too far. I said I was just agreeing with him, then I pointed out he was wearing peeled cows on his feet.

He's been quiet lately..
