I'm pretty sure there's another thread about this but my computer is slow and I couldn't find it. Electric trucks for in-town use were in use up to about 100 years ago. The company I work for has started sending out a digest of articles that may help people with work. I work in logistics and this article will give me an idea of what my successor may run into after I retire.

When I was a youngster - and I'm going back 80+ years - virtually
all the vehicles used to deliver milk and dairy products door to door
were electrically powered 'Floats' like the one below.
The underfloor area of the load bay was filled with an
array of lead acid batteries. They were quiet and
efficient and fulfilled their task perfectly.
