I think a well maintained I.C. car will be quite desirable in the future. People like to be able to get in and go with quick stops for fuel. A full electric car running ONLY on a battery isn't really viable outside of warm temperate locales. I would buy a hybrid if the price was right and I liked it, but 200 to 300 mile ranges, on a good day are limiting. What currently takes me one day to transit, would be three or more days. To visit the kid is just under 800 miles. I can fuel up, use the bathroom and get some snacks for the road in less than 20 minutes. I'm thinking the reality will be less extreme when market forces start acting. Like the new Mustang. A sporty car is now an electric SUV.
I'll bet if Ford and GM do go all electric, smaller companies will be eating their lunch.
