    Bar-none worst car ever?

What's your pick for the worst car ever made? This is entirely subjective, so criteria can be aestheic (it was really ugly) or objective (it was a real POS!) or some combo...

    The Volare.
Sheet metal that rusts while just sitting in the drive, an engine that wheezes louder than an octagenarian visiting Denver, and a dashboard that sports bigger cracks than a bent-over plumber.

Let's cross the Atlantic to the UK

My vote would go for the Reliant Robin and its earlier ancestors
A 3 wheeled fibreglass bodied car that looked ready to tip over as it navigated roundabouts

I guess the fibreglass body had an advantage on UK salted roads ...it didn't rust

Reliant also made a sporty looking Scimitar, which probaly gained popularity due to Princess Anne being given one for her18th birthday.

    Excellent choices!

Another true stinkpot was the late '70s/early '80s "Thunderbird" - a sad paroday of what had once been a great car...

You mean Soviet-Bloc copies of out-of-date Fiats?

    Nahhhh!

Actually, I have thought about finding a Yugo, just for fun. But they are next to impossible to dig up - at least, not in running condition!

    Yugos went to NZ ...
In even greater numbers were the Lada....based on the old Fiat 124. thay also have a 4WD Niva, a few of those here also in OZ ...popular for off roading.

Lots of bad jokes about Lada.......couple I remember
Why do Ladas have heated rear windows? To keep your hands warm while pushing it
How do you double the value of a Lada? Fill it with petrol/gas

We got the same jokes here for the Yugo!

I remember them well; MSRP was something like $3,500 - brand new. This was circa 1989? So dirt cheap. And, of course, you got what you paid for!

There are probably a couple still running around in East LA... Mexicans can keep almost any car running You should see some of the POSs running around here. --We need vehicle inspections.

Someday, maybe someone, someplace, will open up a museum devoted to automotive detritus of this sort? It'd be kind of neat to view them all in one place, eh?

    Exactly!

Imagine 100 or so of them - all under one roof, lovingly restored to their full resplendent glory! I bet it'd be a money-maker (which is more than you can say for the cars themselves, of course).

Any version of the AMC Gremlin closely folowed by the 1966 Dodge Charger. UGH.

    Hi Dennis,

No argument from me on the Gremlin - but I kinda like the early Chargers. Ever see "Hemi under glass"?

An AZ pest control company, Truly Nolan, has for many years advertised by painting it's slogan on old cars and parking them in highly-visible spots (most often, at the front of a gas station). But the supply of cars from the 20s and even the 30s has dried up, so they've had to resort to late 40s-early 50s vehicles. So far I've spotted a Pinto, a Nash Rumbler, and a Studebaker Hawk used in this way.

    That poor Stude!

I like those old Hawks a lot; very nice lines... you hardly see them anymore as well.... .

I think you have to pretty much give this distinction to the Yugo I had the pleasure of driving one and it had to have been the worse driving vehicle I ever driven and it was brand new. A girl I knew in the military bought one it was even the sporty version with ground effects and wheels it was hideous. I also think the first Hyundai's were awful. As far as American cars go the AMC Pacer is about the worst one I can think of.
