All-new SC model enhances style and handling performance
TORRANCE, Calif. 08/09/2006 --
The substantially updated 2007 Honda Element LX and EX go on sale today with prices starting at $18,900, representing an average increase of just 2.7 percent or $572 on a sales weighted basis (not including the all-new Element SC), American Honda Motor Co., Inc, announced today. The all-new Element SC, which goes on sale September 28th, will start at $22,695. Destination and handling charges for all 2007 Honda models is $595.
The extremely versatile Honda Element SUV undergoes a transformation for 2007 with freshened styling, 10 more horsepower, new 5-speed automatic transmission (available) and extensive new standard safety equipment that includes side curtain airbags and Vehicle Stability Assist(TM) (VSA(R)). An all-new sporty variation, the Element SC, will also debut with a sport-tuned suspension, "Street Custom" styling and premium features.
"The 2007 Honda Element returns with an extensive list of advanced safety equipment while providing a new level of sophistication and refinement," said John Mendel, senior vice president of American Honda. "With the expansion of the Element lineup to include the Element SC, it will appeal to an even broader set of customers."
In addition to new safety equipment, more than a dozen enhancements have been made to the Element LX and EX, highlighted by new headlight and grille styling, a more powerful 166-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, Drive-by-Wire(TM) throttle control system, new interior color schemes, standard painted exterior body panels (EX only), Maintenance Minder(TM) system, black urethane flooring, new gauge designs and more. As a further enhancement, the addition of seat-integrated front safety belts to all Element models allows for much easier rear passenger loading and unloading.
The all-new Element SC will provide more than 10 additional exclusive features that include a sport-tuned suspension with lowered ride height; 18-inch wheels; and exclusive exterior styling with an "aero" grille, projector beam headlights, and unique painted bumpers. Additionally, an exclusive interior is included with a carpeted floor (first and second rows), center console with storage, and exclusive interior fabrics and trim.

They're shooting for a sort of neo-hippie/eclectic buyer - one who wants a different drummer vehicle that's not pretentious, etc. I kindof like the Element; my sister bought one nd she does, too. It kind of reminds me of my old VW Thing (which I wish I had never sold)...Originally Posted by chiph

Sure - if I ever get home from work before it gets dark!
I'm also shopping for a new mountain bike -- if I find one I like, I'll post it too.
