    2007 Buyer's Guide - Ford (part 1)

    2007 Ford

    2007 Ford Focus

Ford's smallest passenger car continues with only slight changes for 2007. The front-drive Focus is available in both sedan and hatchback bodystyles and in base S, SE, SES and ST trim levels. Updates include a new standard audio system with single-disc CD player and MP3 capability, an optional Street Appearance Package with rally-style rear decklid spoiler, fog lights and chrome exhaust tip; leather-trimmed sport seats with contrasting leather inserts are also available and there are three new exterior colors -- Kiwi Green and Aqua Blue Clearcoat Metallic. The standard Focus engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that engine generates 136 horsepower; it can be coupled to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. A performance-minded ST sedan is fitted with both a stiffer suspension, a 151-horsepower 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transaxle. Models with the Street Appearance package get a more aggressive, customized look. Alloy wheels are offered as a stand-alone option on S and SE models. Seat-mounted, side-impact air bags are optional on all trims.

    2007 Ford Fusion

The mid-size Fusion was just introduced last year as a brand-new model, but the big news for 2007 is the availability of all-wheel-drive. Other updates include newly standard front seat side-impact air bags and head/curtain air bags on all trim levels, standard auxiliary audio input jack, available Sirius satellite radio and a DVD-based navigation system. Also, fold-down passenger seats are now standard on SE and and heated mirrors with puddle lamps, an electrochromatic rearview mirror, compass and automatic headlamps now standard on SEL trims. The Fusion is based on the same platform that provides the underpinnings for the Mazda6 and the also-new Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephy/MKZ. There's choice of either a 160-horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine or a 221 horsepower, 3.0-liter V-6 engine. The four cylinder engine can be mated to either a standard five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission, while the V-6 comes with a standard six-speed automatic. Riding on a four-wheel independent suspension with four-wheel-disc brakes, the front-drive Fusion delivers crisp cornering abilities without sacrificing ride quality. Anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are optional. A hybrid version of the Fusion is slated for later in the model year.

    2007 Ford Edge

The Edge is an all-new mid-sized, four-door, five-passenger crossover SUV. It comes standard with a 3.5 liter, 265 horsepower engine, six-speed automatic transmission and offers an available all-wheel-drive system. Standout features include a large, panorama-style Vista Roof, 20-ounce cupholder in each front-door map pocket, and a 60/40 reclining split second row that folds to provide a level load floor for carrying equipment in the large cargo area. Edge can transport items as long as 8 feet inside with the front passenger seat folded down. Each rear seat can also be folded manually using an industry-first single-hand release or automatically with an available EasyFold electro-mechanical remote release accessible from the rear cargo area. Standard safety equipment includes Ford's Advance Trac traction control with Roll Stability Control, seat-mounted side-impact air bags, an air curtain system and ABS brakes. The Vista Roof roof features a large 27.3- by 29.4-inch forward panel that offers tilt and slide opening and a 15.75- by 31.3-inch fixed rear glass panel. A one-touch-open switch provides open-air touring.

    2007 Ford Crown Victoria

Ford's full-size rear-drive sedan continues for at least one more year in its present form. Changes for '07 to the six-passenger Vic are limited to a reduction of available trims (just base and LX versions are offered). In addition, a new standard AM/FM audio system with CD player and remote keyless entry/ SmartLock system is now standard on all models, along with a newly available perimeter alarm system and three new color choices -- Norsea Blue Pearl Clearcoat Metallic and Driftwood Beige Clearcoat Metallic. A 224-horsepower, 4.6-liter V-8 engine remains under the hood and is fitted to a four-speed-automatic transmission. Inside, there's ample room for six adult passengers, and more than enough trunk space for their luggage. An available handling package boosts engine power to 239 horses by virtue of a dual exhaust system. The Vic offers 106.4 cubic feet of passenger volume and a 20.6 cubic foot trunk. Front-seat side-impact air bags are available optionally, along with traction control with electronic brake force distribution, a moonroof, six-disc CD changer, leather seating surfaces, heated side mirrors, laminated side glass, power adjustable pedals full-size spare tire and a trunk organizer.

    2007 Ford Escape

Ford's compact, five-passenger crossover SUV gets a new Silver Appearance Package with silver metallic fascias, bodyside cladding and wheel lip moldings; in addition, a keypad entry system is standard on XLT Sport and Limited models and the XLT Sport gets a monochromatic appearance package. There are three new color choices for 2007, too. Base and XLS versions come powered by a 2.3-liter four-cylinder powerplant that produces 153 horsepower; optional on the XLT and included with the XLT Sport, and Limited versions is a 200-hp 3.0-liter V-6. Either can be mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox; all-wheel drive is available across the line. A gas/electric hybrid-powered Escape was introduced last year and continues to be in demand for its performance and fuel economy. Power comes from a four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor that works in tandem with an electronically controlled continuously variable automatic transmission. It affords V-6 power with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder engine. A Safety Canopy system designed to protect occupants in case of a rollover is available, along with side-impact airbags, navigation system, power moonroof and a high-powered MACH audio array with multi-disc CD changer.

    2007 Ford Expedition

The full-size Expedition SUV, which is built on the same platform as the Ford F-150 truck, gets exterior and interior updates for 2007, in addition to standard side-impact air bags and a three-row Safety Canopy rollover detection system with AdvanceTrac Roll Stability Control. Also new is an extended wheelbase L model Expedition offering 14.8 inches of additional overall length and 130.8 cubic feet of cargo space ? including 24 cubic feet more behind the third-row seat than the standard Expedition. Expedition EL rides on a 131-inch wheelbase ? 12 inches longer than the standard Expedition. All versions are powered by 310-horsepower 5.4-liter V-8 engine teamed up with a new six-speed automatic transmission and either two or four-wheel-drive. Available features for 2007 include touch-screen DVD-based navigation with 6.5-inch color touch screen and voice activation, 340-watt AM/FM audio system with MP3 capability and in-dash six-CD changer with six premium speakers, plus a subwoofer. Expedition comes standard with an audio input jack with plug-and-play iPod capability. Buyers may also choose factory-installed Sirius satellite radio and a family-entertainment DVD system with a large 8-inch flush-mounted flat-panel display and two sets of remote-control infrared headphones.

    2007 Ford Explorer

Ford's best-selling mid-sized SUV was all-new in 2006. For 2007, the Explorer is updated with a simplified trim lineup -- base XLT, Eddie Bauer and Limited, in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations -- with a new Ironman Package available on XLT models. This package includes 18-inch aluminum wheels, unique 10-way, leather trimmed, heated front seats and an exclusive Orange Frost color. Also new for 2007: Side air curtain are standard on Eddie Bauer and Limited models, iPod jacks are included with all audio systems, there are redesigned front door pulls for all models and new options have been added -- including a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with larger, 8-inch screen, available heated windshield on all models and the availability of DVD navigation on all trim lines. Three new exterior colors have been added, too -- Carbon Clearcoat Metallic, Orange Frost Clearcoat Metallic and White Sand Tri-Coat Clearcoat Metallic. A 210-horsepower 4.0 liter V-6 is standard, while an available 4.6-liter V-8 powerplant provides 292 horsepower and comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. There's a choice of Ford's ControlTrac four-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel-drive systems. Ford's AdvanceTrac system with Roll Stability Control system is standard across the line.

    2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Ford's mid-size SUV/pickup combo was all-new in 2006 and features a 16.8-inch increase in wheelbase, revised suspension (based on the also-new Explorer SUV) and an available V-8 option (the previous Sport Trac offered only V-6 power). The Sport Trac has a four-door cabin and handy composite cargo box with two-tier storage ability, available hard tonneau cover and three integrated tool and gear bins with drain plugs. It is nearly five inches longer, two inches wider and two inches lower than the previous Sport Trac model, with added interior room and a larger bed that provides a 30-percent increase in cargo capacity. It rides on a new suspension that includes an independent rear array for the first time for better ride and handling qualities with less vibrations and harshness. Ford's sophisticated Roll Stability Control is included for safety's sake; this system helps prevent the vehicle from rolling over in extreme maneuvers by briefly pinching the vehicle's anti-lock brakes one wheel at a time if the system detects a potential rollover or loss of control is about to occur. A 4.0-liter, 210 horsepower V-6 is the standard powerplant, with the Explorer's 292-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8 available for added muscle and enhanced towing capabilities (up to 6,800 lbs.). Both rear- and four-wheel drive models are offered. A high-performance SVT Adrenalin version is said to be in the works for later in 2007/early 2008 and will reportedly come powered by a 390-horsepower supercharged V-8 engine.

    2007 Ford F-150

Ford's full-size pickup gets a number of updates for 2007, including a new grille on XLT and Lariat models, new chrome grille surround on XLT models, available FX2 Sport Package for 4x2 SuperCab and SuperCrew XLT models, iPod jack for STX, XLT, FX and Lariat, E-85/flex-fuel capability for the optional 5.4 liter V-8 engine, available Sirius satellite radio and DVD navigation, plus six new exterior color choices -- Pueblo Gold, Redfire, Dark Blue Pearl, Forest Green and White Sand Tri-Coat. The best-selling F-truck continues to provide a full range of cab configurations, powertrains, payloads, and equipment levels to satisfy virtually any buyer's needs. Standard and available engines include a 4.2-liter V-6, a 248-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8, and a 300-horsepower 5.4-liter V-8. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard, with a five-speed manual transmission available. The base V-6 will pull a 2,200-pound trailer, while the top V-8 can haul 10,500-lbs. Max payload capacity is equally impressive at 3,050-lbs. Regular-cab and SuperCab models include side access doors to reach the storage space behind the seats, while SuperCrew versions offer two rows of seating and four forward-swinging full-size doors. The Harley Davidson special edition version remains available for 2007 and includes dark accents, billet-style grille insert with body color grille surround, 8-inch aluminum wheels (with 20-inch aluminum wheels optional), chrome exhaust tip, fog lamps, unique captain?s chairs with center console and floor-mounted shifter, body color front bumper, rear bumper, door and tailgate handles. The luxury-appointed King Ranch special edition is also available.

    2007 F-250/350 Super Duty

The bigger, bolder, and more powerful members of the F-Series family of full-size pickups feature more rugged-looking exteriors than the F-150, with stronger available powertrains and added hauling and towing abilities. For 2007, new features and equipment include a new Lariat Highline Edition for SuperCab models and a Lariat Outlaw Package for Crew Cab models. In addition, a cloth 40/20/40 split bench seat is now available on XL models and a 4.10:1 non-limited-slip axle is now standard on F-250 and single-rear-wheel (SRW) F-350 with the 5.4L Triton V-8. Three fresh color combinations are offered with the Harley-Davidson special edition -- Black with Medium Wedgewood Blue Flames, Medium Wedgewood Blue with Black Flames and Dark Stone with Black Flames. The standard engine in the F250 is a 300-horsepower 5.4-liter V-8 engine teamed with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. A 6.8-liter V-10 engine offers 362 horsepower and 457 lbs.-ft. of torque. For even more grunt, a 6.0 liter PowerStroke diesel powerplant is available optionally; it offers 570 lb-ft of torque and 325 horsepower and meets 50-state emissions regulations. A unique TowCommand System that includes an integrated electric trailer brake controller is available. All F-250 and F-350 Super Duty models include driver and front passenger air bags, Ford's BeltMinder system and anti-lock brakes. Properly equipped, an F350 Super Duty can tow nearly 13,000-lbs.

    2007 Ford Focus

It looks similar if not the same to the the European Focus we get downunder. Can you confirm that? I could not see a 360 of the hatchback model
