2007 Maserati Coupe

This Italian exotic combines Ferrari-sourced components with a not-so-inaccessible under-six figure-sticker. Though details could not be confirmed at the time of this writing, an updated "two-plus-two" version of the Coupe is reportedly on deck for 2007, with a larger, 5.0 liter V-8 replacing the current model's 4.2 liter V-8. Power is expected to increase substantially, too -- from the '06 model's 390 horsepower to around 470 horsepower. A retractable hardtop Spyder version should follow the introduction of the Coupe.

2007 Maserati GranSport

The GranSport offers four-seat capability (coupe models) or two-seater drop-top motoring (Spyder models) along with a 400 horsepower version of the Ferrari-sourced, 4.2 liter V-8 used in other Maserati models. A six-speed Cambiocorsa "clutchless" manual -- which uses computer control and servos to engage and disengage the clutch faster and more consistently than most human drivers can -- is the standard transmission in the GranSport. Gear-changes are handled by F1-style paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The GranSport comes standard with 19-inch wheels, a lowered suspension and carbon fiber/aluminum trim. An active suspension system similar to the one available in the Maserati Coupe is optional, as are customer-specific exterior color choices.

2007 Maserati Quattroporte

The Quattroporte offers two-door Italian exotic performance with four real doors and more-than-serviceable back seat accommodations. It is powered by a 4.3 liter Ferraris-sourced V-8 rated at 393 horsepower -- with a six-speed "Duo-Select" clutchless manual transmission the standard gearbox. This transmission can function in full automatic mode, like a conventional fluid-drive automatic -- but in manual mode, the driver has full control of shifting operations, while a computer and electric servos engage and disengage the clutch. As Maserati's most luxurious model, the Quattroporte comes standard with an active suspension system, premium Bose audio system, xenon HID headlights and DVD navigation. A Sport GT package adds 20-inch wheels, more aggressively calibrated shifting characteristics for the six-speed transmission, drilled brake rotors, sport-tuned exhaust and carbon fiber trim, among other upgrades. An Executive package adds Alacantra suede trim, rear climate control AC, heated and massaging seats, pull-down dining trays for rear seat occupants and a DVD entertainment system.
