The rating on the Cobalt is very close to reality.

Would that be the hold or the new?

My 6 cyl Accord, when I did check, was two or three mpg shy of even the current city ratings. Then again, it mostly makes very short trips.

My Saturn L100 is pretty close to the new ratings, not the old.


I like the fact they are considering much higher highway speeds, like 75-80 mph in their ratings.

I think my daughter's Saturn is an L100. It's some ten years old and with its five speed manual gets terrific mileage.

If it is 10 years lold, it is probably an SC or an SL. The L-Series was a bigger car and was introduced in the 2000 model year. Mine is a 2001 w/a 5 speed trans. It gets like 24 city and 28-30 highway (hiwy speeds around 80 mph.). when it was new it got 32=33 highway, at the same speeds.

Yes - this is much more realistic; they also should adjust their driving style to be a bit more aggressive - as that's the rule rather than the exception, I'd bet...
