That's the end of Margaret sunbathing in our backyard!Originally Posted by chiph
Very likely, it's quite close to the water, maybe a half mile or less.
The house is white with green roof, corner of Hawke and Convoy, right?Originally Posted by robmcg
At this moment I have it on Google Earth, tell Margaret to wave.
The pier and surrounding area (and pubs) do not have many people, it looks like the mall is suffering, too.
Margaret is clutching a towel to her bosom as we speak. It wasn't much fun out there in the frost anyway. But what can you do with a Scottish girl?Originally Posted by jdm

If you get the chance, follow the link to Wikipedia and click on the "Full Resolution" link (warning: 2mb file) It's stunning.

Mostly we just 'add value' to dirt, grass and water and make dairy products which for reasons I don't quite understand are making us wealthy. Sheep farming doesn't make money at the moment.
What you need is a national herd of goats, goats are the most efficient milk producers and the cheese is outstanding.Originally Posted by robmcg
Ah, but they are also rather intelligent, and not very good at being herded. They might even form communist freedom cells and eat their way out of enclosures...Originally Posted by jdm
Why doesn't the USA build a strategic herd of armed goats? You could train them to attack insurgent-held towns and oil wells.
Goats are tactical, not strategic. And the public is not supposed to know about this moist secret project, expect the SAS and CIA to come knocking.Originally Posted by robmcg
Indeed. My apologies for the incorrect term.Originally Posted by jdm
Will they respond to nationalisation?
I rather favour the nationalisation of everything today. Sheep like it. Cows appear non-committal. But I worry that goats might be a seedbed for insurrection.
As I understand it, there are too many millions of acres of corn in the USA today to actually store, let alone convert to alcohol, so there may be a role for goats in eating the stuff as it rots on the ground, with the added prospect of tactical strike goat units.
