    kick start conversion kit?

I've been rooting around online to see whether anyone sells a kit to convert my 2000 KL250 Super Sherpa from electric to kick start; I have been told this is technically feasible - and there is indeed a removeable plug on the engine case where a kicker would normally be. If I can gett his done, the bike'll be near perfect. I've already swapped the OE handlebar for a shorter (and reinforced) off-road bar, modified the turn signals by using "shorties" on flexible stalks mounted up close to the body (less prone to damage this way) and swapped out the standard tires for very aggressive 90/10 (But still DOT legal) knobbys. The bike does good off-road now... but the electric starter still bugs me.

I'm hoping to have this figured out soon and will post details as I go!

Could they have sold the same transmission in another market with a kickstart?

That's part of what I'm checking into... also, I'm wonderign whether the similar KLR250 (which is kick start) would "swap" with my bike....

Is there a shaft visible when you remove the plug? If so, it should just be a simple bolt-on job.

I haven't yet removed the plug; want to make sure I can do so without damaging it - or at least, know for sure I can still get a replacement if I do!

My DR200SE has that too. I looked into it and found it's not possible to add a kick starter. They are simply using the same plate from another bike that does have a kick starter and plugged the hole.

I bet you will find the same, but good luck!
