    No hope for the future?

Looks like religious strife is not going to disappear any time soon:

This is the web comic "21st Century Fox." You may recognize the news anchor...she made a guest appearance in the comic I posted yesterday.

"Looks like religious strife is not going to disappear any time soon"

Absolutely... not as long as people believe (and insist) that they "know" the "truth" - and that other believers are in error (or worse, "heretical").

If people simply began with the premise that none of us can claim knowledge of the diety; that, at best, our conceptions are vague generalities based on imperfect knowledge, inference, tradition and the doctrines we've come to accept on "faith" - and that we're all equally in the dark on these questions - the world would be a much better place...

I see the cartoon. Do you see it?

If so, it relates to this one:

    You need a real computer!

Or maybe just a real connection!

It's a little slow to load up (and I have super fast cable), but it's there. What type of connection do you use?

    Hello JDM

    [through the static]

You in the richest most powerful country in the world, with the democratic nous of a burger, are sparing with the posts.

I need you as a guide, even if you are an old fool with no understanding of the potato.

And you delivered fighters to Taiwan.... F-15s?

Nope, I still see nothing. Even when posting the link into another browser.

If it has to do with rabbits, then this one is a Pookah.

Re: No hope for the future?

must be a html error of some kind...?

I've got the picture five times with IE 2005 with defaults and regular auto-updates... and it's a pretty standard cartoon.

If I was younger I might even think it funny,
but I'm STILL trying to get my head around the US global-warming denial, where polar and equatorial temps ARE warmer even if in a 50-year window..

CO2 measures are absolutely off the scale with ice-core samples from the antarctic.

This reminds me of the US 2002 attitude towards Iraq. Mis-information on a grand scale. Ironic when many of the best scientists are US-educated. The cartoon is good, but no different from the old 1968 one with a man staggering around a nuclear wasteland with a TV and an outreaching hand with a plug...

The potato is a native of the western hemisphere which we sent around the world (along with maize) so that the lazy and ignorant might distend their bellies.

I am recovering from a journey and a visit to some relatives, the senses remain in disarray.

ah but what planes did you deliver?

We know you are capable of air-talk, a language which steam-engine-drivers such as myself can only wonder-at.

..and you appear unwilling to talk of delivery flights of fighters towards Vietnam.

Who cares wherefrom the potato? The type now grown as fast-food is tasteless and modified to such a degree that it is almost as bad as the sugar in the cola supplied with it...
I bought a small meal of fish and chips a few days ago. One 'fish' and 'half a scoop' of chips. There was a small amount of fish in there, the chips were rubbish, I despair when I wonder what kids eat thse days. Time we got decent laws to stop this rampant ruin of things...

We grow food, then, well, it was amazing to me that anyone sedentary would eat my 'fish and chips', the whole thing was satisfying only to the extent it put a pile of salted cardboard in...

Such a missive of despair! It is evident you need a caring soul to help you recover from such misery. And no, we don't need more laws - we've enough already.

BTW - Did you know that the natives of Colombia find nine different varieties of potato on sale in their market?

Failings? Those who strive must expect the occasional setback.

On the other hand, the parasite worries only that its food source stays healthy.

    America must indeed stay healthy.

I am not accustomed to commenting on anything to do with America, in a serioius way, but it appears to me that the administration of the place revolves around committees not unlike our Westminster parliametary committees.

    Which offers some hope...

unlike the latest Time magazine which is 50% an Austraian travel-guide, and not even useful as toilet paper.

I think an apology is in order. 50 pages of bloody Australian rivers. ...

The problem with time is that the paper is too slick for the loo.
