The perfect vehicle for a technophobe! That is, for a technophobe with $36,000 to spare.
I would rather have a 2008 Whatever for my 36K, computers and all.

That brings back some memories.
Mom had a early 70's Plymouth wagon (same basic body), but no 440 under the hood.
I remember the rear-facing seat -- spent a lot of time back there.
The interior of ours was black metal and vinyl. It got amazingly hot in the summer -- really roasty.

I had the pleasure of driving my friends 1971 Satellite wagon with the 383. It was sweet. Plymouths handled surprisingly well for their size.
It makes the sound that makes the entire Persian Gulf stand up and cheer! And those back-facing third seat is the ticket!Originally Posted by DonTom
Maybe, maybe not - Hold on, here, I know what you are thinking. One thing that we are not looking at today is the overall cost of getting a gallon of gas to your tank. Today, refineries just may not be as efficient as they were back in 1972. Due to oxygenated fuels, a gallon of gas yeilds about 10 percent less energy overall than it did back then. In addition to that, the manufacturing of unleaded gasoline takes more oil than a gallon of premium leaded back then. In addition,I suspect that manufacturing a car today is far more energy intensive than it was back then. We have aluminum, specialized plastics, electronics, airbags and a whole lot of crap in cars today that were not there back then.Originally Posted by Eric
I don't have any figures to support my assertions.. yet.. but I know one thing.. the Persian gulf cheers loudly when Americans buy a Prius, since building that car takes a lot more energy than a Hummer H2.
One of the reasons that Dad bought it was that you could get four-wheel disk brakes on it as an option. A first for an American family car.Originally Posted by swamprat

I love that 1972 wagon. It's the most awesome wagon I have ever seen. I thought the new Dodge Magnum Hemi/SRT8 Hemi was the best wagon Mopar ever made, now I know this wagon was the best. If I had the $35K for this wagon I would buy it in a New York minute.
