IMHO. this thread should have been titled "Top Five Post-WWII American EXPENSIVE Car..." As far as I'm concerned there wasn't but one American luxury car built from 1945 to 1975, and that is the Lincoln Continental you cite.
The 1948 Cad is a case in point. An evil-handling barge, GM forgot to provide a optional Draminine dispenser. Not satisfied with that, GM decided to make it more ugly by adding the tail fins. The engine and tranny were fine, but the car as a whole was suitable only for putting down Woodward Ave at 25mph in the summer.
Since any car with tail fins is ugly, that takes care of others on your list.
It is a sad comment on Detroit management that for 30 years those who wanted to own a luxury car had to buy from a British or German maker.
