I'd call that a great afternoon--- Had the truck been yours, it would have been bad!
1. The truck starts making a terrible noise like radio static, except it drowns out the radio.
2. When you come to a stop and turn it off, smoke comes out from under the hood.
3. When you open the hood, the entire serpentine belt is smoking.
4. There are flames coming out of both the front and the back of your alternator.
5. The fire extinguisher is empty.
Fortunately, the flames went out, I cut the belt, and limped it to a truck stop to wait for the shop truck to come fix it. Even more fortunately, it was a company truck and not my own truck (which I just sold, by the way).

You sold your truck? Are you going to replace it, or continue to use company trucks for a while?
That "#5" can be the deal breaker!Originally Posted by mrblanche
After a bad experience years ago with a VW engine fire, I make it a point to check my fire extinguishers often - and replace them outright every 5 years.
I am working right now as a seasonal driver for Toys R Us. After Christmas, I will see what happens. With all the gas drilling going on down here, a guy has to be quick and hide well not to have a good driving job find him.Originally Posted by misterdecibel
Have you thought about driving for CostCo (the warehouse club)?
I've heard they treat their employees well.

Unlike Wal-Mart (which also has a reputation for treating its drivers EXTREMELY well), CostCo, so far as I know, has no drivers. Much like Target, or Wal-Mart grocery stores.Originally Posted by chiph
