I went out to Abilene and back. The traffic was a little heavier than usual this afternoon, but nothing like I expected.

I think most of the people traveling today are all stuck in the airports judging from the news reports.
Then the local truck terminal is not in a traffic jam area?
The distribution center is in Midlothian, right next to Chapparal Steel. Look it up.
I took a 3rd party backhaul out to Abilene...raw rubber to the Bandag plant (look that up, too!).
So Chapparal is still in business? I haven't been in that place in quite a few years. At that time, dropping south out of Dallas, the country got empty in a hurry - I had quite a time just finding a place to eat without heading back into Dallas.
Chapparal is huge, and growing all the time. It now pulls in scrap metal (mainly crushed cars, but trainloads of other stuff) from all over the country.
I live in Cedar Hill, which is the second town south of Dallas on US 67. Duncanville is almost 100% developed. Cedar Hill is growing fast. And the drilling for natural gas in the Barnett Shale is going great guns, so Cleburne is expanding fast.
