Here is another one of Gail's simplistic, naive quotes -- but it is a hilarious classic and she just couldn't resist.
Atheist Holiday
This is probably one of the best emails this year!
Have you heard about this case? Great answer from the judge!
In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation of Easter and Passover holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while atheists had no holiday to celebrate.
The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the long passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel and declared, 'Case dismissed!' The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, 'Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances. Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah...yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!'
The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said, 'Obviously your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate, his own atheists' holiday!' The lawyer pompously said, 'Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?'
The judge said, 'Well it comes every year on exactly the same date---April 1st! Since our calendar sets April 1st as 'April Fools Day,' consider that Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no God, then by scripture, he is a fool, and April 1st is his holiday!
Now, have a good day and get out of my courtroom!

I enjoy Christmas and Easter - and both are essentially pagan holidays co-opted by Vhristian missionaries when they were converting the heathen Tuetons and Celts. Yet both retain their pagan trappings - trees, yule logs, Easter eggs, etc.
We get a live tree each year, which we decorate and keep in the house for about a month before planting outside.
And I always look forward to the arrival of the Cadbury Bunny a few months later!
Ah yes, and don't forget Satan -- er I mean Santa. I'm (I can't spell it, but I is it.) LOL Just a few things to keep your mind off the real reason for the season. Must not get too soppy, right? Xmas is for the children and what better way for them to lose their faith than with lies and snowmen and reindeer.Originally Posted by Eric

Very astute observation by the Snopes editors.
By the way, why won't copy 'n paste work on the text on Snopes pages? Bastards.
One thing I like a lot about the Buddhists is they aren't militant or proselytizers; they do their thing - and are content to let you do yours. Live and let live. That's cool in my book.Originally Posted by damen
Most of the other major religions, in contrast, are both militant and aggressive - which leads to a great deal of ugliness, from persecutions on the individual level to wars and even genocide on the societal level.
As I've written here before, I really don't care whether a person believes in Jesus, Mohammed, Shiva or Zeus - so long as they keep their spiritual beliefs a matter of individual conscience and leave it at that.
I agree
If you want to be a christian or a muslim or a hindu, good for you. I wish you only happiness. Just please, dont try to push it on me!

Jews don't proselytize either.
No, but they do accept converts. Dr. Laura, for example.
They accept converts, but they do not seek or encourage them.Originally Posted by mrblanche
Depends on what branch you're talking about, but it's rare to find proselytizing Jews.Originally Posted by misterdecibel
