I got out to SEMA again this year. Was another great show filled with some of the most ridiculous things to ever grace our streets!!

Well, sorry Eric, I'm not 'plugging' my site. I've posted a link to the gallery for my photos. There's nothing on there but google ads. They pay for the bandwidth. I'm in no way trying to sway people to 'join' anything on my site as it's PURELY for photos (which, as you know are extremely bandwidth intensive). I didn't know that posting a link that had ads on the other side was prohibited?

Before you got here, one day I got to the site and found some seriously foul porn all over the place... spent hours weeding through the site to get rid of it... just one of many fun incidents... suchis the life of an online editor!

PS: Thanks for the really nice images of the new Challenger you posted in "Performance"... great close-ups and perspective shots, etc..

I know the issues of which you speak.. I'm the Admin of quite a few websites, one of which I believe you are familiar with, but that's neither here nor there.

I'd personally reccomend vBulletin over SMF, but to each his own

Roger all that; we think we got it sorted out - but every now and then, one gets through... . Constant vigilance is the order of the day!

Personally, I'd like to figure a way to send an electric shock over the 'net to hit the Spammers where they live... but so far, my experiments have been without success....

I've been researching his... research.. for a few years now.. very cool stuff that he was working on. I'd love to see someone continue further down his line of research that has similar talents! He got shut down primarily because of his ideas of world wide energy. Limited, free to use energy would be accessible anywhere in the world (a la 'The Prestige' scene where the light bulbs light in the field) and it threatened the profitable energy community as a whole.

There were a number of Cummins powered ones that I'd take WELL before that.

Did you miss the 6.1 Powered Wranglers?

Call up AEV, they can fix you up.

My ideal wrangler, aside from the 1995 that I have in the garage with 20k original miles on it, is a TJ Rubicon with the AEV Brute kit and either a 6.1 HEMI or the Cummins Diesel.

That's fantastic that you have a '95 YJ in the garage with such low miles. Is it a 4.0 I6? What color is it? I drove an '88 Wrangler (5-speed) 4.2 liter 2bbl I6. I took it out on a lot of off-road trails and used it as a commuter vehicle for almost 10 years. That Wrangler never got stuck no matter what terrain I put it through, darn I miss it - should have never let it go. I bought a new 2006 GC Overland last year and traded the Wrangler in, when I bought it. I also have a '94 GC 5.2 V8 that has 137,000 miles on the odometer and is still running strong.

I like the TJ Rubicon - great off-road vehicle - probably the best production off-road vehicle every made with the exception of the new 2007 Wrangler Rubicon. The transfer case is bullet proof. Only thing I don't like about it is the tires, they sing like crazy on the highway.

Post some pictures of your Wrangler if you can.

AEV has some great conversions. I was drooling when they came out with their first TJ Hemi 5.7 conversion. I contacted them at the time to see if they had a conversion for the YJ '87 - '96 Wranglers (I wanted to do the conversion on my '88) - unfortunately they didn't (and still don't).

Here's a picture of my Colorado Red (with factory striping package) '88 Wrangler - it was a torquey beast with 210 lbs of torque at a very low 1,500 rpm (great for off-road) on a trail in West Virginia:

The YJ conversions are popular in Omaha I think? (don't let me lie to you, I'll look it up later!) I've seen a shop that does 2.5 to 4.0 swaps for breakfast, and then chows down on 5.7 Hemi or LS1 swaps for lunch and then finishes off the day with an 8.3L Viper motor - in a YJ - for dinner.

My YJ isn't a 4.0, no, it's a 2.5L Rio Grande.

My parents bought it during a blizzard we had in 95 or 96 and NEVER drove it. Had just barely over 19k miles when I got it in October (they were going to donate it!).
New 2007 JK wheels (with adaptor plates 5x4.5 to 5x5), cab top/tonneau cover, new windshield mount mirrors, pioneer stereo, and a complete brake line replacement (was lucky that I was able to move it from their place in MD to my house in VA). Runs great when started. Sitting in the garage because it won't start reliably until tomorrow when I will be swapping out the PCM.

I have always had a soft spot for the CJs... I like the no-BS simplicity and the fact that these things don't appeal to the poseurs (there are Escalades for them)...

I really like the old CJs.. remember? With the AMC 304 V-8? (If memory serves... .)

Nice Wrangler - like the exterior and interior color! I always liked those Rio Grande special editions they came in interesting colors/striping/decals. Not many of those were made, I believe all of those came with the FI 2.5 liter 4 cylinder motor. I have driven the 2.5 liter YJs before, and they have plenty of power. I have a good friend who had a '87 with the FI 2.5 liter 4 cylinder motor he had a 3 inch lift and 33's on it, it was pretty peppy.

I remember those old CJ5s and CJ7s. The ones with the AMC 304 V8 had some great torque, the horsepower was only around 120 since it was a 2bbl. However with a few mods such as a camshaft upgrade, 4bbl upgrade, etc. those 304s came to life. I personally like the Wranglers better than the Old CJs. Problem with the CJs is that they aren't as stable around turns as the Wranglers - the difference is like night and day. And in going off-road the advantage goes to the Wrangler over the old CJ.

Correct, all Rio Grandes came with the FI 2.5L I4. Not sure how many were made, but I'm willing to bet mine has the lowest mileage!
