    Irene's a looker - but also a squid.

Her lean angles on the street were way excessive; I think she's overly impressed with her ability to get a knee down. But on the street, not such a good idea. And I noted several times where she either crossed or straddled the double yellow - on curves. Can you say "organ donor"? (A local guy was killed just a few months ago in my area doing the same thing; he had an unplanned encounter with a Ford Explorer).

She was lucky; that wreck could have tossed her into the opposite lane. Good thing for her no one was coming the other way... .

It seemed she was intent on showing off and demonstrating that she could 'get her knee down' which is a recipe for disaster. She was not maximising her view round the curves, and as a result was 'threepenny bitting' here and there and double yellowed on several occasions - mind you I doubt there are many of us that can say we have never done that. It may just be that she was playing to the camera, I sincerely hope so anyway. With any luck she has learned a lesson and will be a better rider for it.

    Indeed.

She could have been killed several times, by my count. That hanging off stuff is fine for the track - but idiotic on the street, with oncoming cars coming at you. Going over the yellow line while hanging off as she did is just ... stupid. Might impress the 20 years olds. Just made me shake my head....

She didn't seem to care, and was ready to go again after the fall.

    Re: Crash

I'm not a rider, and I can tell that her speeds did not justify how far she was hanging off the bike.

For the crash itself, it looks like her rear tire slipped some, she overcorrected (either let off the throttle too sharply causing weight transfer to the front, or just put too much input in, or both), and then high-sided.

Yep, I agree, it certainly looked as though the rear tyre spun up slightly then gripped again and high-sided her. My guess is that she felt the back spin up, instinctively backed off as you suggested, and effectively promoted the accident. The instinct to back off when the back spins up, especially if 'driving' hard, is very strong and, as we have seen many times, even the racing experts do it and get caught out.
