I get to hear that sound whenever I want!

My 455 is a D-port motor, of course. But it sounds almost exactly like this....

    Eric,

Excellent point having heard many of D-port and Round-Port 400 and 455 Pontiac V8s, they both sound the same. However take a new Mopar Hemi V8 and compare it to a LA series 318/360 Chrysler small block it replaced (and its block is based upon the same architecture) and the sound from the Hemi is so much different. The hemispherical heads make this lovely whirling sound.

    Yep!

One of the many things I like about classic-era muscle cars is you could tell them apart by sound. Ford engines (esp. the small blocks) had their unique tone; Chevys sounded different from Pontiacs; Chrysler V-8s had their own sound, etc.
