Great point. We as a nation have become soft. If the current population would have to fend for itself like those in colonial days had to, most would starve.

I have to admit to a liking for indoor plumbing and decent toilet paper.

As to TV, I've just ordered out the entire 'Benny Hill' TV series on DVD, TV ain't all bad.

The risk-free society won't last, after a generation or so, the wimps will die out. One hopes.

I managed to 'drop it' once with about the degree of protective gear - it's the kind of thing you only do one time. For some reason my head and feet (no helmet and wearing loafers) managed to take the worst of it.

Hey, it takes a Real Man to wear spandex in public.

Actually, I got tired of tearing the spandex riding shorts up whenever I fell off the mountain bike, so I switched to the 'Baggy' style, which still has the spandex inside to hold things in place, but a tough nylon outer shell to protect against rocks, trees, derailleurs, etc.

Nope, they don't make spandex wide enough. And, I geve up bikes a few years ago when my balance got a tad iffy.
