We believe “Good People” don’t have victims – and “Good Laws” don’t infringe on personal liberty and freedom. Not wearing a seat belt – or a motorcycle helmet – doesn’t hurt other people, so it doesn’t infringe on other people’s rights – which means it shouldn’t be illegal to choose not to wear a seatbelt or a helmet.
It should be up to the individual, as it used to be.
Not wearing a seat belt or helmet may increase a person’s risk, but so does being overweight – or eating certain foods. Should those be ticket-worthy things also?
If you don’t think so, sign our petition demanding the repeal of mandatory buckle-up and helmet laws.
